Based on the minimum requirements of the National Fire Protection Association, 472 Standard for Professional Qualifications, 2002 Edition


Requirements:

  • Candidates shall be at least 18 years of age.
  • Candidates shall be certified at the Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness and Operational Level from the Louisiana Firefighter Certification Program or another agency accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC).
  • The Hazardous Materials Responders, Incident Commander Level examination includes portions of six (6) subjects requiring the successful completion of cognitive (written) skill and manipulative (practical) skills. Written examinations require 70% or greater overall average and manipulative skill examinations are averaged together with the student receiving the grade of "P" for passing if successful.
