Based on the minimum requirements of the National Fire Protection Association, 1002 Standard for Professional Qualifications, 1998 Edition.


Requirements:

  • Candidates shall be at least 18 years of age.

  • Candidates shall be licensed to drive all vehicles they are expected to operate.

  • Candidates shall be certified as a Fire Fighter I from the Louisiana Firefighter Certification Program or another agency accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC).

  • The Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator-Pumper examination includes portions of four (4) job related subjects requiring the successful completion of cognitive (written) skill and manipulative (practical) skills. Written examinations require 70% or greater overall average and manipulative skill examinations are averaged together with the student receiving the grade of "P" for passing if successful.
