Description:
Fundamental aircraft fire-fighting techniques, including the approach, positioning, initial attack, and selection, application, and management of the extinguishing agents. Understands the use and limitations of various sized hand lines, personal protective equipment (PPE), fire behavior, fire-fighting techniques in oxygen-enriched atmospheres, and reaction of aircraft materials to heat and flame. Understands critical components and hazards of civil aircraft construction and systems related to airport firefighting operations; special hazards associated with military aircraft systems, characteristics of different aircraft fuels, hazardous areas in and around aircraft, aircraft fueling systems, aircraft egress/ingress including hatches, doors, and evacuation chutes. Hazards associated with aircraft cargo, including dangerous goods, hazardous areas, including entry control points, crash scene perimeters, and requirements for operations within the hot, warm, and cold zones; and critical stress management policies and procedures.
Requirements for Certification:
Candidates shall be at least 18 years of age
Complete a practical skills examination with a "Passing" score
Complete an 100 question written examination with a passing score of 70% or higher
