Based on the minimum requirements of the National Protection Association, NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner, 2003 Edition, Chapter 4.
Requirements:

Candidate shall be at least 18 years
of age.

Candidate shall meet the job
performance requirements defined in the NFPA Standard 1031, Sections
4.2 through 4.4 and be certified at the Responder to Hazardous
Materials Incidents Awareness Level from the Louisiana Firefighter
& Emergency responder Certification Program or another
accredited agency by the International Fire Service Accreditation
Congress, IFSAC.

The examination includes 23 subject
related sections requiring the successful completion of cognitive
(written) skill and manipulative (practical) skills. Written
examinations require a 70% or greater overall average and manipulative
skill examinations are averaged together with the student receiving the
grade of “P” for Passing if successful.
