Mr. Browning began his firefighting career as a junior fire fighter in 1988 at East Baton Rouge Fire District Six. Upon graduation from high school, he was hired as a fulltime firefighter for EBR District Six and quickly ascended to the rank of captain. During this time, Mr. Browning was active in the Fire Prevention section of the department. In 1997, Chris accepted employment with St. George Fire Protection District and in 1998 was tasked with coordinating and conducting the Fire Prevention / Public Relations Programs. He was successful in obtaining grants to purchase a fire safety house and a matching grant for AEDs. In September of 2001, Mr. Browning was hired as a rescue instructor and was tasked with the revitalization of the LSU rescue program.
Chris is now the Rescue Manager with a total of 5 full-time instructors in his division. He has attended various courses throughout the United States as both student and instructor. In 2004, Mr. Browning was the project manager for the Terrorist Aftermath Response Training (TART) course and scenario and has been a part of disaster drills in numerous states. He has also coordinated and instructed off-site courses in Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. Mr. Browning oversees the day-to-day operations of the rescue program, oversight of all LSU FETI grants, and facility planning projects.
