Fred Martin is a 1971 graduate of Capitol High School. He has previously worked as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic with the USAF, honorably discharged in 1975. His fire service career began with the ARFF division of the Baton Rouge Airport in 1975.
Mr. Martin was employed by Baton Rouge Fire Department from 1977 until 1999. He worked as a firefighter for 9 years, a driver/operator for 7 years, and a captain for 6 years. Over the years, Fred has accumulated 75 hours towards a fire science degree. His certifications include FFI & II, Driver Operator, Airport Firefighter, Officer I, Fire Investigator, Instructor I & II, Safety Officer, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, Inspector I, and EMT-B.
Fred was first employed by LSU FETI in 1999 in the industrial program. He worked for five years with the recruit academy, Driver Operator, and Pump Operations courses. Presently, Fred is assigned as the primary instructor for the Instructor I & II, Inspector I & II, Fire Investigator, and Life Safety Code courses.
