Nehemiah “Nick” L. Palmer IV began his fire service career in 1995 while serving in the U.S. Air Force. During his tour he served as a Fire Fighter/Crew Chief at Hickam AFB, HI and throughout the Pacific Region. While in the military Nick had the unique privilege to train and respond to a wide variety of subjects such as structural and aircraft firefighting, confined space and space shuttle rescue, and the use of a variety of fire fighting apparatus. While serving in the U.S. military, he realized the importance of quality and realistic training along with his desire to help others achieve their best.
After an honorable discharge in 1999, Mr. Palmer immediately went to work at LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute. Like his previous experiences, Nick has been fortunate enough to work in several different programs at FETI. His career as an instructor began in the industrial program. From there, he went on to teach aircraft rescue and fire fighting as well as working as an instructor with the recruit academy. In 2005, Nick moved to Shreveport, where he now serves as a regional instructor and is overseeing the construction and operation of LSU’s new satellite facility at the Pine Country Education Center in Minden. He is also currently enrolled at Pike’s Peak Community College and LSU – Shreveport, where he is seeking a degree in public safety administration.
