Eddie has been in the fire service for over 17 years. After graduating high school and a stint in the U.S. Army, Eddie returned to Zachary in 1989 and joined the Zachary Volunteer Fire Department.  He attained his FFI and EMT-B certifications soon after.  Mr. Tessmer was hired at Zachary as a contract firefighter in addition to his duties as a volunteer.  In 1992, Eddie enrolled at Louisiana Tech University and received his B.S. in 1996.  A year later, he again returned to Zachary where he was hired full-time at the department.  In 2002, Eddie accepted a position with LSU FETI in the industrial division as coordinator, and strives to make the program the best in the world.  Mr. Tessmer continues to further his education in the fire service by attending seminars, schools, and through certification.  He is currently certified as FFII, Officer I, Instructor II and Driver/Operator to name just a few.

Eddie has been married to Dawn Guillot since 1999.  Their son, Adam, was born in February of 2005. They currently reside in Baton Rouge.  In his spare time, Eddie enjoys all types of fishing, traveling, and watching and attending LSU sporting events.
