Clay Crain, an instructor at Fire and Emergency Training, started working in the fire service as a paid firefighter about 12 years ago. He completed the rookie academy at LSU, and returned over the years for more training. Clay was first hired to work for FETI’s industrial program. Mr. Crain later traveled around the state as a regional instructor, delivering training to fire departments across Louisiana. Currently, Clay is the Crew Chief for FETI's 14-week recruit academy. Clay is also the wellness fitness coordinator for FETI. He has developed fitness programs for employees as well as a rigorous fitness program for recruits. Clay is a certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and a Certified Fitness Specialist through the Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas. Clay has also spent time training in fitness with the Phoenix Fire Dept. Clay was named FETI Instructor of the Year in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, Clay received the LSU Foundation Staff Outstanding Service Award.
