Alan E. Joos serves as an Assistant Director of Certification and Accreditation at LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute. Prior to employment at FETI, he worked at the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy, one year in the training division and 11 years as the Assistant Director of the Certification System.

Mr. Joos received an associate and bachelor's degree from Utah Valley State College in Fire Science and Business Technology management and a Master's degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. He is also a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer's Program at the National Fire Academy.

Alan's fire service background began in 1985 as a career firefighter in a combination fire department and then as an on-call firefighter/EMT-I during his time while employed at the state fire academy in Utah for a total of 22 years. In both agencies Alan held the position of Training Officer and was a state tester for EMS.

Alan is married to Carla Joos, and has three sons, Nathan, Jordan (deceased) and Dallan.
