Blance Keith Bankston joined the FETI family June 1st of 2008 as the EMS Coordinator. Blance is a Baton Rouge native who grew up on the LSU campus. As a graduate of University High School and then attending LSU on a Sports Medicine scholarship Blance was able to foster his love for both Out-of-hospital medicine and teaching others about emergency medical care from an early age. In 1987 Blance became a Nationally Registered EMT-Basic and in 1989 joined Acadian Ambulance service. In 1993 he completed Acadian's in house Paramedic Training program. As part of Acadian's Community Education Team he gave "What to do until the ambulance arrives" Classes as well as First-Aid and CPR courses to the general public. He served as Paramedic Field Supervisor for a time before in 1997 becoming a Louisiana Bureau of EMS Instructor teaching Paramedic courses for Acadian in Baton Rouge and Hammond as an Extension Instructor to the Louisiana Vocational College Program. In 2000 Blance moved to East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services and served there as both a street paramedic and Unit Commander responsible for field training of new employees and as a preceptor for paramedic students. Blance is the very proud father of five children: Sarah, Matthew, Katherine, Charles and Eryn. He enjoys working with the EMS Explorer Post, camping, fishing, and model trains.
